Tamworth Field Archers: A club on the move!! – Graeme Harris Secretary

The last couple of years has seen a great deal of growth of the club. Membership has increased dramatically requiring the indoor shoots to extend to three nights per week, as well as the usage of the outdoor range on the first Sunday of the month and now the third Saturday of the month.  This has led to the renovation of both ABA ranges, the redevelopment (almost completed) of the IFAA range, rebagging of all the practice butts and a general clean up of the club house and surrounding areas. The club now hosts an interclub shoot with Gunnedah Club, Branch E ABA indoor tournament and Outdoor Branch shoot.

The club hosts its indoor shoots from the Tamworth Showground to the luxury of the top floor of the previous Tamworth Workers Club. The move presented a number of challenges, the main being moving 8 tonnes of target butts to the second floor. The problem was resolved by removing a second floor window and using a crane. Lots of manpower was on hand and the result will probably be the only indoor carpeted range with a dance floor! The area allows us to shoot up to 28 metres, with 18 and 10 metre ranges, a learners range and bow tuning area. Undercover parking is also a feature. Entry is via Reserve Place, West Tamworth.

The club looks forward to gaining further strength and developing more quality archers.
